Restrictions Based on Convictions: No restrictions based on convictions are mentioned but you are asked about having a record when applying for your body armor permit.
Documentation or Licensing: To legally possess body armor in British Columbia, you generally require a permit.

- Exceptions include individuals with exemptions:
- Private investigator, armored car guard, security consultant; security guard, or body armor salesperson with a valid B.C. security worker license
- Peace officer, sheriff, correctional officer or conservation officer
- Government employee and wearing armor is required or allowed in your job
- Security guard registered as a gaming worker under the Gaming Control Act
- You may also possess body armor without a permit if you hold a valid firearms license issued under the Firearms Act (Canada).

Additional notes:
A business that sells body armour to an individual without a permit may face a fine up to $100,000 and its controlling members could face up to six months in jail. If you possess body armour without a permit you could face a fine up to $10,000 and six months in jail. Police can seize body armour that is sold or possessed without a permit.
This does not apply for sellers outside of British Columbia based on our enquiry with the provincial government. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have a license.
